Pearson or Billy Bishop?
Choose your Toronto arrival.

One airport brings the world to Toronto. The other puts you beside its waterfront. Here is how to choose between YYZ and YTZ—and make the journey after landing part of a better visit.

Toronto Financial District and CN Tower near Union Station
Quick answer

Is Pearson or Billy Bishop better for a Toronto visit?

Billy Bishop (YTZ) is closest to Toronto’s downtown waterfront, making it convenient for Harbourfront, King West and Financial District visits when the flight suits your itinerary. Pearson (YYZ), in Mississauga, offers broader flight connections and a useful starting point for many GTA and Ontario journeys. The Toronto Limo serves both with private chauffeur transfers, all-inclusive flat rates, luggage assistance and complimentary child seats on request.

The useful takeaway

Choose the flight and the final destination together. A shorter downtown drive is valuable. A direct flight or a convenient onward journey can be worth more.

YYZ and YTZ: the differences that matter

Toronto Pearson and Billy Bishop are separate airports with different locations and ground journeys. Pearson is west of Toronto in Mississauga, with Terminal 1 and Terminal 3. Billy Bishop sits on the islands beside the downtown waterfront. Passengers reach the mainland through the tunnel or by ferry before continuing by road.

A hotel near Union Station, a client office in Mississauga and a Muskoka resort each point to a different onward journey. This comparison helps you choose for the visit you are actually making, rather than treating every destination with a Toronto address as the same place.

For downtown hotels, Billy Bishop has the location advantage

Billy Bishop is particularly convenient for Harbourfront, King West and the south end of the Financial District. If your stay centres on a hotel near the convention centre or appointments around Bay Street, that location can make the road journey a small part of the arrival. A short city break may benefit more from this proximity than a visit spread across the GTA.

The island crossing comes first. Landing at YTZ does not mean stepping directly from baggage claim into a road vehicle: the tunnel or ferry brings you to the mainland pavilion, where the onward car journey begins. Your chauffeur then continues to the hotel entrance and assists with the luggage.

Pearson can still be the better overall choice when a direct flight avoids a connection. Our private Pearson-to-downtown transfer brings you directly from the terminal to your hotel or office.

For a business visit, look beyond the word “Toronto”

A traveller can fly to Toronto and spend the working day in Mississauga, Vaughan or Markham. Those destinations have different road connections from either airport. Pearson’s western location can suit Mississauga and Brampton particularly well. Billy Bishop is most compelling when the appointments are concentrated downtown.

Consider the sequence of the day. A Pearson arrival followed by a west-GTA client visit and a downtown hotel is different from a YTZ arrival for one Financial District meeting. A chauffeur can connect the airport, office, lunch and accommodation, creating useful private time between appointments.

Corporate transportation covers executive visits, roadshows and client hospitality. When the vehicle should remain part of the working day, hourly chauffeur service offers continuity through several stops rather than ending at the first doorway.

How long is the journey after landing?

As a road-planning estimate, Pearson to central Toronto often takes around 30–60 minutes, with busy periods taking longer. From Billy Bishop’s mainland pavilion, many central hotel journeys take around 10–25 minutes. These ranges describe the drive, not the entire time from touchdown to hotel.

Baggage collection, any border formalities and the island-to-mainland step at YTZ are separate parts of the arrival. Hotel location also matters: Harbourfront, Yorkville and an east-end destination do not share a single drive time. A major event near the waterfront can affect the final streets even when the highway portion is straightforward.

For departure, add the airline’s recommended check-in and security allowance to the road journey. A nearby airport is convenient, but it does not remove those terminal procedures. The Toronto Limo supports early collections and late arrivals with 24/7 live dispatch.

How private pickup works at the two airports

Pearson: a terminal-specific welcome

After collecting your luggage, follow the prearranged limousine procedure at your arrival terminal. Pearson identifies Door A for prearranged pickup at both Terminals 1 and 3. Check in with the dispatcher so the vehicle can be called forward. Our service includes flight monitoring and waiting after landing: 60 minutes for domestic flights and 90 minutes for international flights.

Inside-terminal meet-and-greet is a separately priced option, adding a personal name-sign welcome. It is a helpful choice for a first Toronto visit or a guest you are hosting. The Pearson airport limo service provides a private vehicle and direct onward transfer.

Billy Bishop: meet on the mainland

The pedestrian tunnel or ferry connects the island terminal with the mainland waterfront pavilion. Your road transfer begins on that mainland side and continues to your hotel, home or office. Billy Bishop airport service makes the onward journey direct, with luggage assistance at the vehicle and at your destination.

Children, suitcases and groups can change the decision

A direct flight can be worth more to a family than a small difference in road distance. For a group, arriving together may be more useful than splitting across flights or airports. The vehicle then needs room for both the passengers and the belongings travelling with them.

An executive sedan accommodates up to three passengers and two large suitcases. A premium SUV carries up to six passengers and five to six large suitcases. An executive Sprinter offers up to 14 passenger places and room for 10–14 large suitcases. A stroller or additional holiday bags can make the larger vehicle useful even for a smaller party.

Complimentary child seats are available on request. Chauffeur loading and unloading assistance, Wi-Fi and charging are included in the experience. Compare our vehicle cabins and luggage space for a comfortable family or group arrival.

Going to Niagara, cottage country or another Ontario city?

If the holiday begins in Niagara Falls, your airport transfer can finish at the Falls hotel rather than downtown Toronto. The same applies to Niagara-on-the-Lake, Kitchener–Waterloo and a Muskoka resort. Compare the flight alongside that final destination: the airport closest to the downtown waterfront is not automatically the most convenient for the rest of Ontario.

A private intercity airport transfer keeps the party and its luggage together through the longer journey. An SUV brings generous space for family cases, while a Sprinter suits extended families or several couples visiting together. A return transfer can collect you at the property after the stay.

Private car or a station connection? Think about the last leg

Pearson’s UP Express connection serves Union Station. Billy Bishop offers a mainland shuttle connection near Union. These options can work well when the accommodation is near the station and you are comfortable carrying your bags through the remaining part of the journey.

A private chauffeur is especially useful for a particular hotel entrance, a home outside the core or an office arrival with colleagues. The chosen vehicle, luggage assistance and child-seat option are part of that door-to-door experience, with an all-inclusive flat-rate airport quotation.

Consider the final leg alongside the airport connection. For a family with cases, a visiting client or a late arrival continuing beyond Toronto, a direct journey to the actual destination is often the most valuable part of the service. Our airport transportation hub brings those options together.

Arriving at one airport and leaving from the other

You can arrive at Pearson, spend time downtown and depart from Billy Bishop, or make the visit in reverse. Each transfer can connect independently with the accommodation where that part of the trip begins or ends. There is no need to choose the same airport for both flights.

A same-day YYZ–YTZ connection needs more thought. It is a road transfer between separate airports, not an airside connection. Leaving the arrival terminal, crossing Toronto and completing the next airline’s departure procedures all belong in that flight combination.

Choose the flight that fits the visit, then make the ground journey comfortable. The Toronto Limo provides professional chauffeurs, all-inclusive airport transfers and a local team available around the clock. Call 647 600 8699 or email our booking team for your private arrival.

Your questions, answered

Which airport is better for a Financial District hotel?

Billy Bishop is geographically closer to the Financial District and waterfront. It is a strong option when its available flights suit the trip. Pearson may still offer the better overall itinerary when it avoids a flight connection.

Is Billy Bishop only for domestic flights?

No. International travel does not automatically require Pearson. Check the actual destinations and airline schedules available at each airport. Pearson offers a broader network, while a suitable Billy Bishop flight can be convenient for a downtown stay.

Can I go directly from Pearson to a Mississauga office?

Yes. Private airport transportation serves GTA offices as well as downtown hotels. An arrival can finish at the workplace, while hourly corporate chauffeur service can connect further client visits during the day.

Do you offer child seats from both Toronto airports?

Yes. Complimentary child seats are available on request for private Pearson and Billy Bishop transfers. SUVs and Sprinters provide more room for family passengers, checked cases and a stroller.

Is a name-sign greeting included in standard Pearson pickup?

Inside-terminal meet-and-greet is a separately priced option. Standard collection follows the airport’s prearranged limousine procedure. Both options provide private onward transportation with chauffeur luggage assistance.

Can a late airport arrival continue to Niagara?

Yes. A private transfer can continue to Niagara Falls or Niagara-on-the-Lake after landing. A chauffeur handles the longer road journey, supported by 24/7 live dispatch.
